Onavo and IDC’s Mobile Commerce App Report

August 14th, 2012 by Onavo Team

Onavo Insights partnered with the International Data Corporation (IDC) to analyze mobile retail and price comparison app trends.

In our study, we analyzed app engagement trends for retail apps, Walgreens, Best Buy, Target and Walmart, and price comparison apps, Amazon’s PriceCheck, eBay’s RedLaser, BarCode Reader, and ShopSaavy.

Our findings provide unique and valuable insights into the mobile shopping and price comparison habits of smartphone users and are based on the world’s largest aggregation of real mobile data usage in the US.

In our report, we examine the mobile retail and comparison shopping app landscape, highlighting key usage trends, with a specific concentration on habits of US iPhone users.

Our study’s insights provide developers, industry players, journalists and even the curious consumer an inside look into how price comparison and retail apps compare, daily app trends and inferred conclusions, such as the most popular days for comparison shopping and buying more expensive items.
