For this infograhic we looked at a global sample of 100,000 iPhone users, over a period of 90 days, and analyzed which 3rd party apps were most used in that period. We excluded games, apps that come pre-installed (such as YouTube, Maps, Yahoo! Stocks, etc) and of course apps that don’t use 3G data.

We looked at anonymized, aggregated data collected from Onavo’s magical shrinking machine, to see how apps were used during Black Friday, and what impact they had on sales. These apps are mostly used in-store, as consumers go to their smartphones to browse for products, see clearance items, share special offers with friends and more. The Apple Store app even allows you to see the line to the Genius Bar, as well as scheduling a meeting with an Apple rep or ordering your next Apple product from your iPhone.
